Digital first, concerns second: Our power to change everyday life and the question of responsibility in algorithm development

Developers of IT systems have enormous power. - And therefore also a great responsibility. This applies especially to the ideas and concepts about the social domain, which are inscribed in the technology within the development process. With the aim of creating awareness of the resulting social implications, the talk will focus on the construction process of data-based applications. Empirical investigations in various case studies around complex IT systems serve as our starting point. Based on this, recommendations for an ethical reflection of options for action will be formulated.
