Melina Freitag was invited speaker at the 7th Day of Mathematics at the TU Chemnitz. As part of her keynote speech on "Looking into the Future with Mathematics," she asked the audience to build paper airplanes and to hit her with these paper planes. Not a single one hit the her, actually. But what does this have to do with maths? Weather forecasts aren't 100 % accurate. But they have become increasingly accurate in recent years, as a result of improved mathematical models and increasing computing power.
